Test 2 - Wet Printing on 29/11/2024 (only motor encoder)

After test 1 - wet printing on 26/11/2024 printing with 2nd encoder (click Here for previous printing) we changed to use only motor encoder and testing with below.

Printing 1 - for curve test at 5.5m  and speed increasing up to limit
Printing 2 - for geometry test at 1.4-3.5m and speed increasing up to limit
Printing 3 - for geometry test at 5.5m and speed increasing up to limit
Printing 4 - for geometry test at 5.5m and speed increasing up to limit
(same as printing 3 but different location)
Printing 5 - for curve test at 2-3m and speed increasing up to limit
Printing 6 - for curve test at 2-3m and speed increasing up to limit

(same as printing 5 but different location)

Test results of Geometry
Printing 2 - Approx. 0-0.8% error per metre (Average 0.3%)
Printing 3 - Approx. 0-2.3% error per metre (Average 0.7%)
Printing 4 - Approx. 0-2.4% error per metre (Average 0.9%)

Printing 1 - 6.3m/min was achievable

Printing 2 - 9m/min was achievable
Printing 3 - 7.2 m/min was achievable but at the limit
Printing 4 - 7.2 m/min was achievable but at the limit
Printing 5 - 9m/min was achievable
Printing 6 - 9m/min was achievable

Comparison of Test results of Geometry
In Test 1 (with 2nd encoder)
Print 2 - Approximately 0-1.6% error per metre in geometry (Average 0.5%)
Print 3 - Approximately 0-1.4% error per metre in geometry (Average 0.7%)
Print 4 - Approximately 0-2.7% error per metre in geometry (Average 0.8%)

In Test 2 (only motor encoder):
Print 2 - Approximately 0-0.8% error per metre in geometry (Average 0.3%)
Print 3 - Approximately 0-2.3% error per metre in geometry (Average 0.7%)
Print 4 - Approximately 0-2.4% error per metre in geometry (Average 0.9%)

Test results show that with 2nd encoder, the geometry of the print is more accurate, but the print shape performance is not correct. This may be caused by tuning of the 2nd encoder responsiveness which causes additional oscilation movement (wavey) in print line. Further tuning could improve this.


Comparison of Test results of Print Speed
In Test 1 (with 2nd encoder)
All tests performed at same speed 4.5 m/min, which has oscillation wave pattern. As per prior comment we believe this is a result of the encoder tuning.:

Print 3 - 7.2 m/min was achievable but at the limit
Print 4 - 7.2 m/min was achievable but at the limit
